Anyone who dares to dream
deserves the support to succeed.

The Mesa Lane Steps, a staircase from the beach, in Santa Barbara

Mesa was founded on the belief that sharp, driven innovators should be unencumbered by the daily slog of financial technicalities. They should be free to focus on the critical work of building their business and exercising their unique, specialized skill sets. In addition, investors should have timely and accurate insights into the financial performance of their investments.

Disciplined finance meets deep operational expertise.

We understand that financial decisions don’t happen in a vacuum. It’s about more than just numbers.

Any modeling, projections, or analysis comes with a nuanced interpretation that accounts for your growth strategy, personal priorities, business model, runway, team capabilities, standard business requirements, and more.

We don’t just answer the easy "finance" question: Can you afford a new expense or employee? We answer the complex "business" question: Can you afford not to spend this money if you want to achieve your goals?

When budget cuts appear imminent, we can evaluate alternative pathways to protect cash flow and your workforce while optimizing enterprise value growth.

For every dollar saved through cheaper tools, we look at what would be lost, too: Efficiency, visibility, transition downtime, maintenance costs?

With Mesa, it goes beyond receiving clear financial operations and reporting. We also provide operational insights to support the trajectory of the company to match both investor and customer expectations.

Mesa’s founder, Emily Arnold, brings extensive business-building experience.

Scaling her own companies. Building clients’ finance functions from the ground up. Investing in and advising promising startups. Emily’s expertise was shaped and sharpened from all sides of the business—and specifically, Venture Capital—landscape.

Now, Emily brings her hands-on background as a business builder, 15 years of international CFO-level experience, and an MBA to translate technical financial data into strategic levers for growth.

She is deeply committed to strengthening the ties between entrepreneurs and investors. She formerly served as Treasurer of the Board at Ventech, an organization dedicated to connecting the business and technology ecosystems, and was a Business Advisor for Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV). As an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurial Finance, she taught future founders how to evaluate and negotiate VC deals.

Emily and her team help clients navigate everything from day-to-day accounting to high-stakes fundraising and capital allocation decisions. All in support of passionate entrepreneurs and visionary investors.
